Dr2 View:
Dr2 has watched this band develop and grow over the past couple years or so and felt it was time to share our opinion with all of you. "Maceri", the self-titled freshman effort by this Mt. Clemens, Michigan foursome is as open, honest, and refreshing as the band itself. Ryan Maceri, the bands young frontman and founder is one of the most open and engaging people you will ever meet. The music he and his band create mirrors these traits, it's new, fresh and fun. You will definitely find variety in this 13-track collection. From the opener, Survive It, with its upbeat riffs and quick stick work, to Whoa and My Last Goodbye, there is no shortage of "jump" music to get the energy up. But, ladies, this band shines when it's singing to you. Maceri has a collection of acoustic guitar-heavy, laments whose titles say it all. With, I Miss You, Stole My Heart, So Long, and In Her Eyes, these guys definitely have created what could be a soundtrack for all the "Twilight" fans dreams! And it doesn't end there, there is the beautifully done, piano-accompanied, Breathe You In, with its cool R & B groove that notoriously brings the female gender fans to their knees. Among the various themes on this disc are two songs that stand apart for there uniqueness, namely, Shine On Me and I'll Get To You. Both definitely stand apart in that they are faith inspired spirituals that are very sensitively and creatively done, being both inspiring and at the same time not overbearing or "preachy". Again, as in the rest of music, we think they reflect the band and maybe even more so, Ryan Maceri. If one thing is clear after spinning this disc for the last few months (I should mention that this is one of the few discs that has stayed in our mp3 players this long) that Ryan is a talented songwriter with a great knack for writing sensitive songs that aren't boring and still have a hook that sinks deep. Guys, you'll like this music too! We at DR2 are excited to see what is next for this group. The guys have a fresh sound that stands apart from so many other young bands that catch your attention. You can get your own copy of Maceri's disc on iTunes, or you could do it the Dr2 way and get out to a show introduce yourself to the band and buy one!!! As always you can find them over on the Dr2 MySpace Page in our Top Friends, or you can watch a live video of the band inside theDr2 Video Gallery.
