Dr2 VIEW:

All you Ty Stone fans and fanatics (we proudly count ourselves among the latter), your day has finally come!  Ty Stone's new EP, "Four On The Floor" is set to drop this Saturday, May 16th in spectacular fashion while cruising between two countries along the Detroit River! This Kid Rock Produced, Top Dog/Atlantic Records release features four of Ty's most popular tracks that have us here at Dr2 salivating "Four" more! Recorded between Los Angeles (B.I. Studios), Nashville (Compass Music) and north of Detroit, way south of heaven at Kid Rock's Allen Roadhouse in Clarkston, MI, Ty Stone delivers the goods that had Atlantic scrambling to resign the charismatic Stone to their label. Leading off with Blessed St. Anthony, (arguably, his best) Ty hits you immediately with a song that showcases, not only his incredible voice, but also his undeniable skill in wrenching the emotion out of every word. With its soaring organ backing and soulful vibe, it allows anyone unfamiliar with Ty know that they are in for something special. Immediately followed by the rock & roll, blue collar anthem, Downriver, which explores the plight of a city that's lost it's factories but not it's heart, Ty shows that he can rock too.  With the plight of today's production worker, this song seems extremely relevant, especially when paired with the ballad that follows, Bob Seger.  Anyone who has worked a 12 hour shift, come home tired, and found it worthwhile just because they have someone special waiting will definitely appreciate this cut.  You have to love that it also gives a nod to some musical greats, noting "...They'll sing these working blues away...".   Finishing all too soon with Beauty Queen, which incidentally was co-written with Jerry Ferris of Bachelorette fame, and also used during the Season Finale of ABC's hit TV series The Bachelorette, Ty leaves you where he began, with an emotive masterpiece that, after listening to this four-song collection, should leave you convinced of two things.  One, Ty has immense talent, both as a Singer and Songwriter. And two, if there is such a thing as destiny, Ty's destiny was to do this. Ty's music is rooted in the everyday experiences of the hard-working, hard playing folks that he grew up around.  It, like Ty, is completely original, completely honest, completely emotional, and inescapably addictive.  It is as American as Detroit, and as Detroit as Bob Seger, Kid Rock, or Mitch Ryder! Personally, we have never heard anyone reach down and deliver vocal brilliance quite like Ty, who has left us speechless numerous times.  I am going to quote our own DR2 story from May 4th of last year when we say, "Ty Stone is best described as a song-writer of great passion, a voice of pure emotion, and a charisma that is pure energy!" Rather appropriately, for someone who stands tall for the City of Detroit and his Downriver roots, Ty has enlisted Detroit's premier promotion company, On The Rocks-Detroit, to throw what will undoubtedly be thee most unique, and otherwise exotic, Release Party of the year, ShipRocked aboard the Detroit Princess this Saturday May 16th for a late night rock & roll party cruise on the Detroit River! Four On The Floor will be available for purchase that evening, or you'll be able to find it on iTunes soon (head on over to The Ty Stone MySpace Page for a listen). There will only be 500 discs distributed and Ty will be signing them that same evening, making this a true collectible, so Check out the flyer on our site and we'll see you there. Tickets available by calling 1-877-DET-BOAT, or just get them at the Dock! Gates at 10pm, All Aboard! DetroitRockReview.com - The Only Place for Local Music News & Reviews!
