Dr2 VIEW:

If you love pumping your fist in the air to guitar-crunching chords, double-bass pedal beats and the gravel-throated, cadence of some serious metal, you will be in heaven (or Hell?) with this new offering from Underland! You gotta’ love a true power trio that can rock this hard.  With Lou Abraham fronting the band on guitar and vocals, backed by Chris Lucas on bass and Bob Payne on Drums these guys make it work with a hard, full, sound.  DR2 has not been able to catch a live show yet, but we are eagerly anticipating the CD release party this weekend.  With a full ten-track onslaught, Underland brings an aggressive sound that features vocals that sync perfectly with the driving beat.  The first track, “John Doe”, lets you know immediately that you are in for an intense, metal thrashing with its plaintive chorus and pounding rhythm.  Continuing the beat-down with “Not The One” & “This Place” the guys showcase an incredibly well developed sense of lyric for this genre of music, the latter being one of our favorites for it’s pure aggressive shout of ..”Get out of my face!” that conjures up memories of Disturbed’s “Walk”.  On this disc Underland has demonstrated with powerful music, mood, and lyrics, (reminiscent of classic Black Sabbath), that they understand what they want to achieve and how to do it.  We are particularly impressed with the songs “I.S.P.” and “Branded” not only for their musical quality but for the shear adrenalin-fueled, emotional explosion they wring from your soul!  We have always had an addiction to music that pulls you along on an aggressive high; this is that type of disc from front to back.  And if you like to throw weights around like we do, you definitely need this as the soundtrack to your next workout.  In short, we challenge you to not feel something, anything, when you listen to Underland! Whether it’s anger, rage, ecstasy, or passion, you can’t help to connect with them emotionally somewhere.  If you think you’re up to the challenge, you can pick up the disc at any show or head over to our Top Friends“, you’ll find Underland listed there. You can also check in the Dr2 Links, they’re listed there too! Remember, DetroitRockReview.com is the ONLY place for local music news & reviews!Keep supporting local music… or there won’t be any!

Keep Rockin’!!
