Out & About In The D (4-3-08)

Been a wicked crazy time around the D the last couple of weeks where the shows & events around town have been kicking into high gear. It seems as if Dr2 & Crew could hit up a show everyday of the week and still not see them all! Just last week we decided to head on down to the MGM Grand Detroit (awesome place…..close to Vegas as you’ll get around here!) for some gambling excitement, but after an hour or so Don & I decide that since The Lager House was literally across the street we’d leave our crew at the casino and check out what was going down in one Detroit’s famous venues. Good choice as we were able to catch sets from Mas!, Friendly Foes, and The Drinking Problem (less one Ms KoKo Louise). Unbelievable as fans from the Wisconsin Regional over at Ford Field kept filtering in, telling us that “How can you come to Detroit and NOT hit the Lager House!” Our sentiments exactly, besides where else can you play a game of Ping Pong & rock out to some of that Detroit Rock & Roll and getting “Lagered”. On top of that we hit he 89X I’m with The Band Contest Thursday, The Copycat Show on Saturday, the Tigers Opening Day on Monday……what the hell were we thinking! Phew, I guess that mean’s we all primed and ready to do all again this week starting with tonight over in Da Clem where we’ll be hitting up the Angelo Ganos Benefit with Seduce, Broadzilla, Universal Temple Of Divine Power, & Dangerous Pursuit at The Emerald Theater, should be kick ass rockin time! Afterwards we’ll shoot on over to TNT’s for Week 13 of the 89X I’m With The Band Contest which will pit MicLordz & Sauce Funky, Se7en Year Reign, I the Sky,

Reality Drift & Rumblefish against each other for the chance to move on to the Semi-Finals this May. Always a good time here! We’ll be rolling into Augies Friday night for the McCarty Cancer Foundation Benefit where all proceeds from this dual night event will be heading into the Foundations coffers. With a power house line-up Friday of Dirty Americans, The Muggs, VanGoGo, and Dirt Road Logic, things will surely be on fire there in Madison Height’s. They do it all again on Saturday starting with a “Street Hockey” game in the afternoon followed by another smash line-up of  Primortal, Ray Street Park, Zug Izland, and a “Unplugged” Set from The Unheard so don’t miss this event, you have 2 days to get there! On Saturday TNT’s features local Ska band Spades Alone last Michigan show as they’re packing their bags and “heading out west sucker” to Vegas baby in what they’re hoping to be a career aiding move, Dr2 wishes them the best of luck but hope they realize that Detroit IS Rock City. If none of these suit your fancy then head on over to The Dr2 GiG Calendar or the Dr2 MySpace page where you’ll find a slew of shows that are guaranteed to rock your socks off! Support Local Music!
