Detroit’s reining Queen of the Blues, Eliza Neals drops her latest compilation, “messin with a fool” January 27^th with an all out throw down in the heart of Detroit City at the new UDetroit Café. Born to sing the blues, Neals has taken her music from Detroit to New York, drawing rave reviews every stage she played. With “messing with a fool” she delivers an outstanding performance with her latest effort, drawing from a supersized batch of talented musician from the city she calls home.

The aptly named Rock powerhouse, Ballz Deluxe, have bulled their way into the collective consciousness of Detroit music fans over the past 3 years by being authentic, angry, and yes, Ballzy!  Their newest disc, Volume II, is no exception.   With a collection of tunes that put DR2 into a pure rock-and-roll coma for a year, they rage through 10 tracks that are a belligerent, personal, in-your-face, fuck you to the status quo! 

 Detroit’s own rockin’ blues masters themselves, The Muggs, are set to drop their third disc, “Born Ugly” April 29^th, and Dr2 has been spinning it non-stop since we had it dropped in our in-box. The eagerly awaited follow up to 2008’s, “On With The Show”, has the Muggs driving us through a musical kaleidoscope, racing in and out of their early influences of the late 60’s and early 70’s blues laced rock of the time.

The Detroit-bred and world-tested musical menagerie called Natives Of The New Dawn have a new release out and we here at DR2 scored a copy a couple weeks back and just can't stop listening to the thing! The first day we received it, in a euphoric, ska-hip-hop-jazz-fusion-induced manic episode, we literally listened to it the entire car ride from Detroit To Tennessee
